Every photograph is a bid for immortality. I am content to find immortality in the small things that might otherwise go unnoticed by most people. The world is jaw-droppingly amazing, if only one would look. Photography is my excuse for looking - always - camera in hand, or not.
I bought my first camera - and a book on how to use it - for a safari in Tanzania a few years ago. On the last full day of the trip, we drove around the Ngorogoro Crater. I spotted an elephant wandering alone by itself. When I got home and saw the image I had made, it changed my life.
A local florist gives me free flowers because he likes the pictures I create with them.
