I search for reference photos that require me to stretch my artistic muscle. This search often takes the most time as I usually paint fast. My style tends to be tight and detailed ,which helps to calm my anxious mind. However, occasionally I break out of my paradigm with a loose abstract piece.
I lean towards painting landscapes with unusual sunsets or sunrises. I also love to paint figurative pieces that incorporate gold leaf and design ,clearly inspired by the painter Gustaf Klimt
While I had done a few paintings in my early years, my work was limited to pencil, pen and ink and pastels. I had considered myself only an illustrator. It wasn’t until I was in my 60’s during Covid, that I devoted time to learning and practicing watercolor by watching YouTube videos.
