I tend to gravitate to subject matter of unusual faces and poses or landscapes. Once I find a reference that moves me, I look for the opportunity to make the light stand out in an interesting way.
Once I start a piece that really inspires me, I can hardly put it down until I am finished. It is not unusual for me to work for eight or nine hours at a stretch to reach completion.
