I draw inspiration from the floral patterns and designs that are a part of my heritage within Japanese culture. By taking images of plant life and repeating the creation of those images by memory, I explore themes of cultural tradition and the change that can happen from one generation to another.
Many of the floral designs utilized on the surface of my pots are inspired by Japanese woodblock prints, fabric designs, and William Morris art. The composition of my wall sculptures are based off of Vanitas Dutch paintings.
